Camp Discovery
Day Camp @ Camp Discovery
Cub Scout outdoor adventures begin at summer camp with all the fun traditional
programs you’d expect, from crafts and games to marksmanship and Scout skills.
Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts love to explore, learn and play at day camp. They
discover new Scout skills, work on advancement and have a great time with new and old friends.
Cub Scouts participate in games, crafts, and other Scouting fun. Leaders and parents have just
as much fun as their Scouts.
Activities at each day camp are developed around an annual theme such as outer space, jungle
adventure, cowboys, brave knights, or rowdy pirates; each year is different, fun and engaging for
young boys. These themes come to life as staff create activities and theme-oriented craft kits that boys
take home to remember their time at day camp. In 2010 Cubs will enjoy the popular safari theme.
Popular activities like archery and BB-guns return each year, while others such as games, sports, and crafts are rotated to provide a well-rounded complement of creativity, discovery, and physical fitness.
Some day camp activities may help a boy in his Cub Scout advancement. Each camp provides a list of possible advancement areas that den leaders can use after camp to determine what requirements the boys completed during camp. These tremendous day camps are staffed by dedicated, energetic Scouters. Camp leaders attend National Camp School, where they get the latest ideas for great fun for boys, as well as training on operating safe camps.
Each day camp is a Nationally Accredited Camp, which assures parents that the camp has been well planned and is a safe environment. Leaders follow safety standards to ensure a safe and fun program for every boy. Boys go home each afternoon, so lunch is the only meal they bring along. A barbecue dinner is served at each camp on the final day, and families are invited to partake (at a nominal cost) so they can share the excitement of camp with their Cub Scout. This gathering of families is important to the boys, as they are proud of the things they did over the week. Day camp in Cascade Pacific Council is a great adventure right in your local community. We look forward to seeing you and your Cub Scouts at day camp!
